Door Speaker Wires

Hello, I am trying to run the wires through the rubber boot between the door. I have no clue where it leads to though. I tried putting my hand where it meets the rubber boot in the car, but there's a white bracket in there. Do i need to unscrew + unbolt that? Or does the rubber boot lead elsewhere. If any has pictures, please post them. I am trying to do both sides, if anyone has any tips as well, I will be very grateful. Thank you for reading. I hope to hear from you guys soon.

Can you post a pic of the boot you're talking about? Sounds like you're talking about the rubber piece that is by the hinges of the door. Is that right?

Yes, I am talking about the rubber piece. I wouldn't call it a hinge though. As a hinge would hold the car door upright, yes? The rubber piece I'm talking about has wires in it already from power windows and speakers on the passenger and a lot of random stuff on the drivers. Thank you for replying!

Luckily I had a spare wiring harness lying around to show you what youre running into. Honestly, I doubt you have the need to move up to a larger gauge wire for door speakers. The only reason to run new wiring would be if you were running tons of power to each door (like 100w RMS), longer runs of wire(25ft per side) or if there is some damage to the original wiring. Do it if you would like though.

You have a different year and a different model than I do, but on mine it runs through the boot, into the car, then to the fuse box. Then the speaker wires go underneath the steering and into the back of where the radio goes. I see no white bracket. But then again I have no clue what the previous owner could have done to the car .

@jododds: thank you do much. That is exactly what I'm looking at. In white though. Also, I prefer to have bigger cables because the ones that are already there seem to be falling apart. A peace of mind is also nice. I guess, it's also because it would make things easier if I do run more powerful speakers. I currently have a new amp, head unit, and speakers. I would just like to ensure they work well?

@mrjreezy: the pictures above show what im looking at. Do I need to remove this? Or is there something else I should be running through?

Unscrew it and disconnect the wiring. In the first pic on the left side is the clip holding the plastic housing to the connector. The biggest thing you need to worry about is wrapping the wire harness where it passes through the body so it doesnt rub through the insulation since you wont be using the plastic mount. The other option would be to drill a hole through it to pass the wires through. That way you wont have to worry about it rubbing on a sharp edge. Good luck with it.

Sorry, reviving a thread here. How do I disconnect that wiring harness in the picture? Do I need to remove my entire dash?

I just did a complete system in my 97 GS and all I did was spice,solder and heat shrink inside my doors to the factory wiring. It sounds great and that way you don't even have to mess with all of that.

I would, but one of the wires shorted.
