Difference between 90 and 91+ slave cylinder?

Ok, here's my issue. I have a 90 Talon TSI. The engine and trans are out of 91, so I had to change shifter base and shift cables. I used the slave cylinder that came with the car since it was already attached to the clutch line, but I have the slave cylinder for a 91.

Sitting still it goes into gear relatively fine. But once you're moving at all it grinds a bit. I have good clutch pedal (it's been bled correctly), and I also have the extended rod installed.

So the question is, is there a difference between the 90 slave cylinder compared to the 91+ slave cylinder?

Slave cylinders are pretty simple devices; if no fluid dumps out when you pull the boot back, then it isn't bad. It'd be difficult to say it was either the slave or the master if the fluid level isn't dropping at a noticeable rate.

Did you adjust the master cylinder at the pedal? Is the step on the flywheel correct? You say the pedal is good because you bled it properly, does the pedal assembly have any extra play in it? What are the conditions of the fulcrum ball and clutch fork?

Also, check for play in the clutch pedal assembly. Look at the focal point where the clutch pedal is attached to the master cylinder. There is a slotted hole where the pedal assembly has a rectangular hole going into the bracket to the master cylinder. If the corners are rounded, allowing the pedal to have play, while the actual rod going to the master cylinder isn't moving, then you have a worn out pedal assembly. I had this problem when replacing my clutch with a 2600, and the pressure was to much for the worn out pedal assembly. Hope this helps.

That sounds like my issue... watching the slave cylinder rod push the clutch fork while someone else pushes the pedal in, it didn't seem like it was moving much at all.

And when in gear, you only have to release the clutch pedal about an inch or so before it starts to engage...

I also just installed a 2600
