I am looking at picking up a 95 gsx tomorrow. It is pretty cheap because he cant fix it. He said that cylinder 1 isn't firing and that he knows its not the plugs, wires, or coil. He thought the timing was off and he had a shop do the timing belt and water pump so the timing should be fine. I am thinking that it has to be the injector? Am I correct? The car is over an hour drive away and he said that whenever he tries to drive it it just stalls. I am hoping to find the problem and fix it so I can get it home without having to pay for a tow. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If it really is not firing and all those other points are checked, then it would have to be the wiring or the ECU. If you have a spare ECU, just bring it along and swap it out. If you have a timing light, then you can snap it on the wire to see if it is actually firing or not just by hooking it up and checking if it is being triggered.

It could very well be the injectors, in which case you should probably check the MPI Relay next to the ECU. Don't forget to start with the simple stuff, like the fuseable links next to the battery terminal.

From what I have been reading when there is a problem with the MPI the car wont start at all. The way he described the problem to me was that it does start and run but it stalls when he tries to move. I am kind of hoping its just an injector. I am going to swap injectors and hope that that cylinder fires:|

I went down today and bought the car. It is still there because I didn't have enough money for the tow. I did a compression test and there is compression. He already replaced the coil, plugs, and wires. He said he didn't think it was the injector because when you give it a lot of gas fuel comes out of the tail pipe. He put champion plugs in and I would switch over to NGK anyway so I may just buy those and try them. He said that when he pulled the wire out he saw a spark so it is getting spark. So if its getting spark and fuel and the cylinder has compression do you have any ideas?? A little more background on the motor it is a jdm 6 bolt with the cyclone intake. The motor itself has 90k on it. It does start and run and will rev up a bit but when I put it in reverse it just died instantly
