1 major Problem.
I had a car and engine rebuilt in Florida by a machine shop and had another shop install the engine. Today i found out the engine will not crank over.
Here are the details.
7 bolt bock rebuilt by R&J machine shop. They put the engine, tranny and turbo together. I had a place called HorsePowerConnection install the engine. Well today i found out that the engine would crank over but not start. They told me after the install they went to crank the engine over and it sounded like there was screeching noise from the engine bay.
They told me that the machine shop forgot to put the engine/tranny seperator plate. (tranny plate?) Would that cause the engine not to start/ run?
They also tried to turn the engine over and we couldnt even with a breaker bar.

If u guys have any idea what could cause and engine not to crank over please let me know

The other thing is that the installer said that there were metal shavings around the bell housing area from the flywheel. What can that mean?

PLEASE HELP!!! IM STUCK IN FLORIDA WITHOUT A CAR

THANKS

without the trans/block spacer plate the flywheel is probably hitting the bellhousign on the trans. you need to start with getting a plate put in there then see what it does.

Have them remove the starter and see if the engine will spin over by hand. Without the plate, the starter fits into the bellhousing too deep and the case will actually jamb against the flywheel ring gear. If this isnt the cause, the flywheel is actually sitting to deep in the tranny and rubbing the inside of the bellhousing

Regardless, the plate needs to be installed. Spacing with washers is just a disaster waiting to happen.

thanks for the reply guys.
I guess i will just have to wait till monday to get this sorted out
