Hi I was talking about using a 1G motor in my 2G car but i decided that it would be to much work. How much work do u think it would be to make a auto into a manual would it be just a matter of changing the trans?

I'll put it this way. You can do anything. Providing you don't mind the monetary outlay.

I would try to find what I wanted instead of converting. You still have all your hydraulics plus mounting a clutch pedal plus shifter and cables.

Good Luck

as for the toughness of the swap...it's not that hard, it's just time consuming. after removing the old tranny you'd have to mount up the clutch pedal assembly and master cylinder/fluid resivior. there are already spots for the holes to be drilled so stuff will line up but it's still work that needs to be done. then you have to change out the shifter and cables, again, not tough, but time consuming. then you get to run all the lines from the clutch resivior to the tranny and finally you have to install the tranny, then the half-shafts and put everything back together. not a tough swap, but time consuming. all of this is written considering you have access to a manual car where you can just pull parts off of.

I am also planning on doing this on my 2g awd, time and money are not a problem with me because I am also doing a 6 bolt swap at the same time. I was just curious for the people that have done this what major issues have you ran into besides the prdal assembly installation?
Thanks

i have the same question...i am thinking of purchasing an AWD car in addition to my FWD car. I was wondering how expensive would it be to really get an auto car changed to 5spd...I wouldn't do the work myself but I don't think it would be a problem to get an AWD 5spd trans and the parts I'd need to get it done but how expensive do you all think it would be to actually have someone do it?
