I bought a laptop from someone really cheap(probably stolen :notgood: but not by me) it's a Toshiba Satellite A75-209 and it works great has a pentium 4 in it and everything.

Ok heres the problem, when i bought it i was told that the connection from the ac power cord to the laptop was faulty, (but at the price he was selling it wouldve been stupid to pass up) i had to wiggle the cord around a little bit to make the connection solid enough to charge it. Well now its gotten worse and it wont hardly charge at all, there is no connection what so ever.

I was wondering if there was some way to fix it without having to ship it off to toshiba because i'm a college student and i have neither time nor money to have someone else mess with it. So i guess my question is, is there a way to hard wire a laptop or maybe another cable that i can buy?? do they make chargers with usb connections or anything?

I'm all out of ideas!!!

buy a new cable. if that isn't it, give it to best buy (or somewhere similar) to fix.

It could be that the connection to the mainboard inside the case is loose. I've seen it happen a few times. If you are comfortable doing so, open it up and take a look. Look for a broken or loose connection. It sometimes can be resoldered.

That's probably the best bet, especially if money is an issue. Wiggling the cable to make the connection sounds like an issue with the socket.

Yea its a has to be a connection with the mainboard because i know it's not the cable and i took it to best buy and they said that i would have to ship it off!!!

Im a Tech at Circuit City, I wouldn't send it to Toshiba. I've heard price quotes as high as 400 bucks to fix, and that just crazy.

Find a buddy thats good with computers, have him take it apart and resolder, once the case is apart its really not that hard.

Hell, you could even find someone on here that sockets ecu's for dsmlink, its pretty much the same thing. :thumb:

well i tried to take it apart once i got all of the little screws out and everything but i cant figure out how to acttually saparate it?? im sure i could figure it out if i could just get the damn case off.

I don't know about Toshiba but i used to be a dell technician and the AC power jack is built onto the motherboard on the dells. We replaced the whole board which was usually around $600(just for the board) but you could probably have it resoldered. If you send it to toshiba or even take it to bestbuy or somewhere they will tell you you need a new board which will be at least 400 + labor. Your best bet is to take the board out yourself and take it to a electronics shop and have them resolder it
