Well i bought the car and the guy said there was bad compression in cylinder #3. I did a compression test on it and it came out 125 125 115 120 the 115 is still in the 75% range so it seems to be alright. Now the only thing is the car is running super rich still and seems like it has a misfire. Also the idle is very jumpy and usually stays around 1000. I recently changed the plugs and the car ran 100% till about ten minutes after itran bad and the plugs were carbon fouled like the original ones. Any help is appreciated guys thanks. Im picking up a timing light this week to make sure the timing is'nt off. One other problem is when i start the car with the clutch in of course it sounds fine but as soon as i let go of the clutch it makes a chattering noise in the transmission area.

Im not too sure of exactly why you are running rich because I don't know what mods the car has if there is any... secondly, those numbers are very low and if I can remember correctly, anything under 134 psi should be re-ringed and freshened up..... about your tranny issue, it sounds like maybe its the throw out bearing making the noise....

Yeah i was leaning toward the throw out bearing too. But i have no mods except full exhaust. how do i check to see maybe if its a bad ecu?

Make sure you have the stock injectors, a lot of people think it's a great idea to throw larger injectors in and then want to sell the car when it starts running like crap and eating through gas. After that try seafoaming your car, that might help raise your compression numbers a bit since I've read that carbon buildup can have a negative effect on your compression.

I have the blue tops which i believe are the stock injectors. And i actually was gonna seafom it but after i got the car running good again. But thanks ill seafom it soon. Anything else?

I think your HG is leaking a little causing the jumpy misfire idle. Id say pull the head off and look. Hopefully a new Hg and your good to go. Might need a lot more then that. I dont see how the gap of your plugs would affect your compression.

Yeah thats probably next to my to do list thanks man. i hope that fixes my problem i just wanna drive the thing already LOL

I am not sure I would start with changing the head gasket, although it couldn't hurt. I would try doing a leak down test. That should give you a better idea of where you are losing the compression.

Also it might be a good idea to check your timing. I have done timing belts and been off by one tooth and had all kinds of bad idle issues. It might also be why your compression is off?

Good luck.

Yeah the head is coming off as soon as i have some free time but until then im trying to see if my timing is right ill get some pics up of the cam gears soon thanks for all the help guys. What do you guys think of this set? Felpro Top End Gasket Set Eclipse/Talon 4G63 - CI Motorsports

And the compression test was done warmed up and at WOT
Weak spark might be an issue and as soon as i get a datalogger i will do the open loop test. I will keep you guys updated thanks :thumb:

He is in colorado, so the elevation will make his compressions numbers lower.
Is there any correction factor formula available to use?

Does my timing look right?? sorry for the crappy pics. Both the timing marks are around 1 oclock on the gear and I circled them in yellow. I will take better pics if necessary thanks guys
