compression 30-30-30-30 HELP

Ok my car burnt a vavle so i just replaced the whole head, so i did a compression check and i had 30 across the broad. Is it possiable that i didn't tightin the head down enough. The car was running before i took the head off btw.

Sure your timing didn't skip a tooth or a few?

well if it did skip a tooth or few, would the valve be hitting the pistion and would it make that big of a diffance in compression. I thought even if you were off a tooth or so that the car would still run.

If the timing skipped to where the valves are open halfway or more threw the compression stroke you'll have real low numbers like that...
