1G Code 31 knock sensor

I got a check engine light the other day after I punchd it. I had the laptop hooked up to the datalogger and look over and get code 31 detonation sensor. does that mean its broken or that its just getting mad knock . I looked at the knock and it went to 43 counts Im guessing thats pk ### I only have a downpipe. my boost is set at 15 lbs with no fuel mods.

Simply reading knock will not cause CEL. There are three mahor ways to get that code:

1 - Your sensor fried
2 - Sensor body isn't making good ground with the block (sanding the mating flange on the block a little does the trick. Usually a problem with newly installed sensors or freshly built and painted blocks). Simptoms include being able to read knock, but still throwing the code.
3 - Sensor plug came off or wire broke/corroded.

Nothing else comes to mind, that would cause code 31.
