I just installed a new ACT 2600 and I haven't adjusted the pedal play yet.

It engages right off of the floor. I ready that it should have more play, but as long as it

shifts ok, is it bad that it engages that low?

There is right at 7" from the top of the pedal to the firewall.

Don't think it will really do any damage if it engauges so close to the floor (unlike if it engages close to the top of the pedal which has several negative effects) Things you might notice if its to low would be hard to shift, or have trouble while trying to shift fast. I would recommend you adjust it so it starts to engage about 1/3rd the way up. This way you should be fully releasing the disk from the pressure plate while shifting.

I would adjust it anyway, its not very hard and i say better safe than sorry. I battled clutch adjustment, master/slave cylinder, and the notorious crappy 1g pedal assembly for a while. I found even sometimes that i could shift into the gears fine, the clutch would grab right off the floor, but if i would just sit there with the clutch all the way in the car would even creep foward a little bit. So even though you might be able to shift into the gears fine the clutch might not be fully disengaged. I would adjust it so it engage 1/3 the way up like daren p that has always worked the best for me as well.

I think I'm just a little slow. I kept reading about how to adjust it then if finally hit me while I was under the dash.

I only lengthened it by 1.5 to 2 turns of the adjusting rod. It catches about 1/3 of the way now. Much better.

It shifted smooth even off the floor but I'm not used to the 2600 yet so I kept stalling it. With the extra play off the floor, it much easier now and I satll only 1/4 the time. :thumb:

But now my turbo is off to be replaced under warranty so I didn't even get a chance to fully break it in yet. :(

I just sold my 1g and now have a 2g awd. My clutch pedal does the same thing, It engages so low that the back of the pedal is seriously still touching the carpet when I feel it grab. Now I know by reading that it can be adjusted under the dash but what would cause it to be that low in the first place? mis installation of a new clutch? abuse(high rpm launches) by the previous owner? Thanks

More then likely the previous owner just didn't adjust it after the new clutch install which he should have done, or he didn't adjust it properly.

Mine engages right off the floor, too. So if I was to try to raise the friction point more towards the middle of the pedal swing, which way would I turn the adjustment rod thing?

If you are facing the firewall from inside the car you turn the rod counter clockwise. You shoud see the rod come out of the firewall, get longer.

Like I said, I only turned it 1.5 to 2 full rotations and was perfect, at least for me.

Just start with that and test the play and adjust more or less if necessary.
