So dogbox racing said that I need to give them my crank, girdle, pistons with rings, rods, oil pump front case and the empty block

so 1....what are your thoughts on compression ratios? 8.5:1 vs 9:1

also for pistons, Manley, JE, mahle, ross?

and rods, scat, eagle, manley?

i would go 9:1 compression for pump gas.

i know its not listed but i personally like regular wiesco pistons and manley H-beam rods, of course if your shooting for over 600whp i would go with the HD wiesco piston with the larger wrist pin and manley I-beam rods but i think the HD only comes in 8.5:1 but im not 100% sure

the mahles are the lightest and can be ran the tightest in the bores....my ross engine runs great but has a lil slap on a cold morning...the mahle's i don't hear a thing.

ross .005 pswc
male .003 pswc
both street motors
but but both brands of pistons are dam nice.

More compression for pump gas....? That seems the opposite of what you should do. Lower compression is another preventative for detonation, as is octane - therefor, lower compression + higher octane = less detonation (and more boost). The difference in off-boost power for .5:1 compression ratio difference will be negligible.

You want to go with the lower compression if you plan on running pump gas. Although there isn't a BIG difference like Memphetic already said, I would go with the 8.5:1's for pump gas and 9:1's if you plan on running race gas, especially if boost is 25+psi. The higher the compression the higher octane fuel you will need. I have the Ross piston/Eagle rod combo with 9:1 and 25psi of boost with a little over 8k on it with no complaints. I also run race gas too by the way.

i would not go over 9:1 CR on 93oct but e85 im pretty set on going 10:1 CR

meth and pre-turbo injection can eliminate your typical knock threshold.

I was planing on like 20psi either way.....so if I can do it with 9:1 compression why not?...if I go with 8.5:1 I wasnt planing on running much more boost....its a daily driver and i want it reliable.....and I don't go to the track ever, I just do some highway pulls with people...not like a race or anything.

yeah like I mean I'm trying to build a street king hahah.

and the low end will help out some ....I can't see myself running loads of boost though daily.

and I have the stock boost gauge made into a knock gauge.

so you think if I go with 9:1 I could still turn up the boost to like 20-22?

and like 25 with meth?

basically my holset h1c doesn't grow balls till like 25 and up psi...so should I take advantage of lower comp with 25 psi and gain the upper end or 9:1 with meth and go 25psi?

its a tough question to answer,
basically you wanna put all of your eggs in one basket so which ever route you pick make sure everything else around it is setup to match perfectly with the way you go.. either make your car for midrange or highend. just because it doesn't grow balls until 25psi doesn't mean it will be dead under that.. i would have to say that the 8.5:1 CR would be the "safer" route as far as motor longevity goes but not by too much.
