Check engine after installing wideband o2

I installed a couple widebands in a few 2g's this last week and I get a check engine code for the o2 heater. Is there a way to get that to go away. Got DSM link in one car and the other is stock ecu.

FWIW these are the new PLX kits that have a little extruded aluminum box controller and a guage. By far the most time consuming kits Ive installed. :( (The reason being you have to add wires to connectors and solder your own power supply plug that goes into the unit.) Also with no calibration, some o2's I have installed by plx dont display on the guage correctly, but the sensors read their correct voltage. And why dsmlink doesnt go higher than 18:1 is beyond me.
 
I got around the CEL for heater by using dsmlink. You can turn that CEL off from one of the screens in there. I think you can use a resistor if you don't have dsmlink.

As far as dsmlink not logging leaner than 18:1: why would you need to see it? The only time you should see it that lean is when you're decelerating while in gear.
 
Got the link car fixed, now for the other one. If i cant trust a w/b reading of 18:1 when its clearly not, how can I trust it at any other time? The more time I spend with the link the more I like a real standalone. At least with an safc you have control over low throttle settings, not that I like those either.


Still the question is about a 2g stock rig with a wb02.
 
FWIW, I was disappointed with DSMlink at first too. The more I used it the more I liked it and now I couldn't imagine going back to an SAFC. I was suprised about the lack of low throttle settings, but they're actually there. The global setting affects low and high end, and the sliders affect only WOT. Dial in your low end with the global and then tune the high with sliders. If you low ends need different settings (i.e. idle leaner than cruise), you have two ways of doing it. One is to adjust the deadtime as per the manual, or you can adjust the airflow sliders a little. With DSMlink you canuse Karman airflow tables to tune the low end instead of by RPM like the SAFC. Cruise is usually the 200-300hz range, and Idle is the 50hz slider. You can double check which slider you need to adjust, though, by logging MAFRaw, and looking at the Hz while cruising (or whatever airflow slider you're trying to tune). I used both deadtime and airflow, and my low and high are dialed in perfect, better than the SAFC ever was.
 
The "formula" if you will for DSMLinks readings obviously come from the 0-5v signal from the O2 sensor (controller)/whatever with 0 being some figure and 5 being a higher figure. Even though the sensor might be over 18:1, the "cap" in the reading inside DSMLink is 18:1 as that is as high as it goes.

You're obviously not going to try and run a setup at anything near 18:1.....the useful range, 9/10:1 to around 16ish:1 is all the needs to be accurate.

What did you think about the new PLX? Really that big of a pain? How's it working after the install?

Thanks for the link input. As I keep getting more and more people wanting me to tune it, I will do a little more research.

They read correct voltages out from the sensor at air. 5v. But would not display the same from guage to guage. When I was in school they also warned against an o2 that couldnt be calibrated, im not sure why, it just wasn't recommended. Example I got was what if one sensor was slightly different from another, you have no way to reset your calibration. It only really needs to be done once per install or if your running on the edge and you need to double check it between runs say.

Also having to solder your own connectors for the plx is a joke. I will go with an innovate any day of the week. Along with the limit of plx's as far unless you buy add ons, the innovate gauges have min/max and you can change from lambda to afr with a button, along with logging.
