Car accident radiator support removal?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Before you go out and buy one, see if you fix yours by using a hammer. I had a bent radiator support bar and I hammered it out. I did have to get a new center support bar and have it welded. Total cost was under $60 instead of $300+

I'm not sure what you mean by the nose of the radiator support, but on a 2G every spot welded part is different and can be sold as a different piece at a dealership. See attached pics for the seperate pieces. The part in red is what I needed to get mine fixed.

I suggest that you check your local dealership to see which part you need.

So u are saying that they are removable and the new ones need to be spot welded.
I need every pieces. They are bent so far that the radiator is pushed against the turbo.

Tanks for the help i toot my car was gone.:thumb:

Was in the same situtation with my 2g, i dont know if its the same setup but i had to strip the whole front end from the radiator support (fenders also ). I drilled out all the spot welds and got it off, very simple if your mechanically inclined. Then i purchased a new complete support core from ebay for about 150.00 dollars ( exactly like the one you uploaded ). Then had it welded in.. Just make sure that everything aligns correctly. My car was a head on collision and i totaled car, so when i was done everything was 1/8" off. Wasnt noticable but just made the installation of bumper and lights a little tricky. Good luck -

I had the same thing happen to me. I went the other route and bought a cheap donner body and am swapping my turbo motor to a new body. I had thought about just replacing the front end but I hate the Idea of a salvaged title. As long as it is only your radiator support that is bent with a little time and patience youll be ok. Good luck.
