Well I was bored today, and felt the flat black VC was gettin old so I decided to polish it. Then I had a second gen heat sheild here so i hit that up too. Then I started in on the bov, thermostat housing, cas, and a spare intake manifold i have. Well, my question is, I also have a spare driver side motor mount arm thing. Can that be polished? Does anyone have pics? I actually think it would look pretty cool. To be more specific I dont want the really polished blingy look, just the brushed aluminum look.:thumb: Thanks.

i bet it could be, i dont know how long it would stay looking good...

honda has a company called hasport and their mounts are silver and look pretty cool

Honda doesn't own Hasport and their mounts are cnc aluminum.

the heatshield is steal right? you could polish it and then clear coat? if you could find some high temp clear, I haven't had any luck, but I haven't tried that hard either.

well its a spare so i'll give it a go and if it looks bad, I just wont put it on.

Take a real coarse heavy grit, like 60, then multiply it by 2 each time you go to sand it down... like 120, 340, 800, 1000, 2000, then polishing/scratch removers and the polishing liquids.... I have done it more than once on a lot of other metals... Aluminum is very grainy and porous, so you have to be firm when getting out all the grains... Trust me on this one.... I can email you some of my work, and the tools you will need to do a professional custom polishing job on any metal.... and when you use the polishing/scratch remover, let the buffer wheel do the work, and dont force it....
