I was curious if the cam gear cover signifficantly reduces the noise of the cam gears. The previous owner of my car removed the cover for 'looks' however it seems louder than other dsm. Cheers

shouldnt make much if any difference in sound, but it will make a difference in protection.
all it takes is one stone to land in there.

Well I would put that back on if I were you, ( if you cant find one go to your local junkyard and itll cost maybe 5 dollars ) Because say something ever falls in there in the timing belt area, or say your driving and debris from under the car gets blown up in there , thats all it takes and you could fry your whole motor....

Just take my word for it, most ppl who take it off only want to show off their new flashy looking cam gears which I dont think you have, and they normally do that at shows but put their timing belt cover back during daily driving.... Just a thought....
