Buying Exhaust for 96 eclipse RS Help!! ty

Hey im buying new exhaust for my 96 eclipse nothing to fancy just a lil extra HP and nicer tone is these ebay parts good enough and do they all match up i see some say 2in and 2.25 inch thank you for the help

if your car isnt turboed i wouldnt go bigger than 2.25" after that your car will sounds like doodoo

They "should" all match up but with eBay quality that might not happen. Also don't expect anywhere near the HP gain they are claiming.

Just get a catback exhaust and call it a day if you want your exhaust to be louder. I have a full exhaust and there isn't any power gains to be made.

You need to find a different test cat. The one in the listing is for Turbo only. on our N/t cars, the flanges on the cat are not straight across like the one pictured. One like pictured here Test Pipe Cat Eclipse 95 96 97 98 99 Non Turbo RS GS | eBay is the right flange style. An upgrade for our car is to find someone selling the cat back from a GST. It's a little bigger than ours and will bolt right up to the cat.

I run obx type r since it's cheaper and has a life time warranty but for ebay I would go with a n1 exhaust system. They are decent and sound good. I would go 2.50 inch so you don't have to upgrade down the road if you build your motor. Like said above make sure your getting n/a and not a turbo exhaust that happens Alot.

Id also go 2.5. Low mean ass idle pitch for a N/T.

The difference between ebay and name brand is the exhaust materials.
an ebay should last you at least 3 years before any rust comes into a problem.

As long as the flanges actually fit. ebay has an issue with making stuff bolt up properly.

Here are the things I know about ebay exhaust parts.
They are hit are miss in 'quality'.
Tubing thickness (the gauge of metal used) is sometimes really really thin. The problem I have seen on video reviews on youtube is that the welds might look really pretty on the outside but they end up cracking. I'm not sure if this has to do with the welding job, the material of the piping being inferior, or if something else is at play. I would at the very least get the welds looked at and have the car run on a lift after installation so it can be checked for leaks. There's also no real guarantee that the welds won't come apart later on after they endure heat cycles. I've also heard from these videos that the gaskets supplied are absolute garbage and you shouldn't trust them.

With the above in mind I'd say go for it, as with pretty much any aftermarket part I've ever encountered there is probably going to be a bit of finessing to get it to play nice and fit like it should.

That sucks a couple weeks ago I went to the local jy and there was a 96 eclipse with a nice greddy exhaust on it now its gone

It's sounded nice until my oil pump seal blew up. Lol. But I think I'm going to get a 4:2:1 header and a new tip. The Megan one is massive and doesn't sound raspy enough for me. If you buy Megan make sure it's off their site, not Ebay

I know this thread is quite old, but the OP has pretty much the same header/downpipe and catback that I put on mine. I really like the idle sound and low rpm tone, but then once I get on it, it sounds kinda terrible, like super raspy, almost like a weedwacker. Its quite annoying, and I was wondering if anyone has run into this and what a good fix (other than "dont buy cheap shit") could be?

Its my daily driver and its annoying as hell so a quick, not too expensive fix would be great until I can save up the money for a proper kit.
