Ive had this problem now for about 2 months or so, but I can't figure out the problem,.

In the beginning I had this backfiring issue when the turbo spiked up to 18 or 19 psi's

As of today, the car wont go past 10psi without starting this annoying backfiring, I mean when I go WOT the car builds 10psi's and after that, it starts smoking a very dense black smoke ( as if its running rich ) but in the other hand, my EGT gauge rockets just as if Im running lean

FPR set at 40psi's at the moment, Ive been trying lowering the psi's but yet it keeps doing the same thing. Its been doing the same from 33psi to 43.

The last thing I tried was using NGK BPR6ES Spark Plugs. Still the same. Had BPR7ES before and still the same issue :nono:

I'd like to have an idea of what type of problems I might be facing before going to the mech.

Thx for the help

Okay what do you have for a tunning tool..?.. Have you tried regapping ur plugs.and ur FP should be at 43psi. are you still running factory fuel set up(450inj) check for a boost leak.!

You have been having this problem for two months and no one had told you to do a leak test yet? It should have been the first thing to check. Listen to the rookie and perform a boost leak test. :p

Yup, and I'll repeat it over and over until everyone understand the importance of a regularly performed leak test is to turbo cars. ;)

That's not good....

I still suggest leak test after you get that fixed, then you can figure out whether you've killed the turbo boosting under that kind of condition for 2 months. Good luck.

Turbo's won't complain about venting to the atmosphere, only drivers do that. :p

Probably the black smoke you saw was from running rich. The ECU saw a ton of air going into the turbo through the MAF, delivered a ton of fuel to match, but only a percentage of that air made it to the intake, the rest was vented. The result: extremely rich mixture. Oh and FYI EGT's can also skyrocket for extremely rich mixtures just as it does for lean mixtures.

Had you done a boost leak test in the beginning you would have found that problem. That is why Bruce repeats it over and over.

You are right, unfortunately, I learned the hard way :toobad:

Im taking the intercooler tomorrow to the machine shop to see if it can be repaired.
