Hey guys, I have two questions. The first is; when I do a boost leak test, should there be any hiss at all? There is a small sound coming from behind the engine. It sounds like its around the throttle body. Also, I have a CEL, so I tried doing the diagnostic error code retrieval thats on VFAQ. They say to use a 12v buzzer. I don't have one so I tried a 12v test light and got nothing. Is that normal? They also you can use a analog voltmeter. I also don't have one of those but I so have a digital multimeter. Can I use this?

Thanks guys:dsm:

No you shouldn't have any hiss at all. That indicates the pressure is bleeding off somewhere. As for the CEL's, are we talking about the 91 GSX in your profile or the 2g in the picture.

Also, please fill out your profile completely, it will make things easier for everyone offering advice. :thumb:

And what do you mean by fill out my profile completely? My car is completely stock. Oh wait, I forgot the Auto-meter boost guage. haha

Please don't do this. The diagnostic port isn't designed to put out the current that a light bulb needs. If you haven't blown the output on the ECU by doing so you can use a digital multimeter if it reacts quickly enough or go to Radio Shack and get a Piezo Buzzer.

Multimeter did the trick. Oh and the leak is coming from around the number three injector.

Thanks guys.

You can spray the entire intake tract with soap water. A did a boost leak test once, where my biggest boost leak was so big it wasn't hissing at all. I knew something wasn't right since I couldn't hold 5 psi without constantly putting air in.
