hey guys, I just spent some time in my car trying to fix the tail lights being out and the interior lights. After messing with the dimmer switch I replaced the 10a fuse for TAIL and it worked.

So im all excited and then I hook up everything and it blows. Then I put a 15a fuse in there and it blows it instantly.

My question is why do the fuses keep blowing? Is it maybe because my gauges are wired into the ignition wire and there's too much power or something? And how do I fix this?

Thanks in advance :dsm:

My boost gauge is wired into the 12v ignition wire in the stereo wiring harness, I did that because I couldn't find another 12v source to hook them into. Could that be the problem? If so how can I fix it while keeping my boost, a/f gauge functional?

I will add that I started having these problems when I connected the gauges, so im not doubting that as the source. But can't I just drop in a much larger fuse or should I just rewire the gauges?

Sorry for any confusion and any help is greatly appreciated

Have you checked the relay for the lights?

That 12v ignition wire should be okay to use. If you are drawing too much in the way of amps I would think it would blow the head or some other fuse rather than the tail fuse. Be sure to check the junction block under the hood. When I had my tail-lights playing games with me, the problem was in there.

Ok I just rewired my gauges into the cigarette lighter blue wire...ohh no is that the same wire?

Anyway that had a negative reading of 12 on my voltmeter, I don't know what that means but it works LOL

So I figured I had fixed everything but when I put another 10a fuse into the tail relay under the hood it blew immediatly. I'm at a loss for words, I can't figure this out and im running out of fuses......:(

yes I checked the relay for the interior lights and its fine. Did you mean something else?

Only the TAIL relay under the hood keeps on blowing. For the few seconds that it didn't blow, everything worked perfectly. I just dont know why it will blow almost instantly

Is there a fuse that won't break?

Update: I plugged in a 30 fuse and I saw smoke starting to come out of the hvac cluster. I noticed that 2 different wires were touching which shouldn't have been. So After fixing that all of my lights work except for my headlights:confused:

I did pull several different fuses out of the kick panel fuse box so if someone can write what each one is for, it will help me narrow down or fix the problem. The HEAD fuses in the engine and the kick panel fuse boxes are good though, so im pretty stumped here.

Thanks again
