I have heard several people talk about "throwing" a bearing. I was wondering if someone would take the time to explain to me what a bearing actually does. Also, if you "throw" one, will it make noise after it is "throw"? What are some symptoms of a "throw" bearing? What are some causing for "throwing" a bearing. All references to the word throw are in quotes because I am not sure it is the correct word. It might be called a throw out bearing and not really be "throw" out. I have always been a little confused about this subject. There may be an example of a throw out bearing, and throwing out a bearing. Any explanation would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Carol

The bearing rides in between a rod and where the rod is connected to the crankshaft. Symptoms of "throwing" that bearing, there are none. I had one "throw" one on my car about 2 months back. What it souds like is a very loud knock coming from the motor
