Alright, I've searched forever and it just doesn't seem to help me. My reverse lights don't work and after replacing bulbs and fuses, I've pretty much determined that it has to be the backup light switch. I've removed the battery and plate to help locate it and still can't seem to find it. My chiltons is only for Eclipses 90-98, and although I have a 95 RS, I think the fact that my car has a 99 engine in it, is causing me some trouble. Did the 99 420A's have their backup light switch in a different location? I really need to have this problem resolved before I go to bed tonight, so all the help and pics I can get would be great. Thanks.

Does anyone have any idea how to help me with this? Does the 99 420A wire up any differently than the 95??

i dont see why ot would be any different. there should just be a switch screwed in to your tranny somewhere. there should be a plug on it with 2 wires going to it.

I know, it should be so simple...I just can't seem to find the damn thing! I have the battery and battery plate removed, I've got the chilton's diagram right in front of me...I just have to be completely blind or something. Does anyone have a pic of the exact location, or could possible snap a quick one for me? Another thing, should I have ordered the backup switch for the 99 or should it be the same thing?

I've found what i'm pretty sure used to be the backup light switch LOL. It was so hard to make out because there was not even a connector on it, and it was eatin up so damn bad it looked to be just a normal bolt or something. Now the problem arises that the old and new ones don't look exactly the same. I have to find the connector that is supposed to plug into the switch, and see if I even got the right part. All the old one has is two prongs coming off of it, no surrounding or nothin. Does it matter that the new one is longer than the old one? I'm gonna try and post pics of the two. Does anyone have experience with this problem, and swapped out for a new one?

::edit:: i'm concerned about the new one being longer than the original and curious as to whether I should even try screwing it in. anyone w/knowledge of this situation would be a great help to me. I need to know if I got the wrong part or not. ::edit::

well, I hate to be post whoring...especially in my own thread, but I just tried the new one and it doesn't fit. It's too long, and doesn't even fit far enough in to hit the threads and start screwing in. looks like I'll be calling the parts store tomorrow and giving them a piece of my mind:mad:!!!
