Took the laser to the dyno today. Last outing it made about 225whp and 203wtq. Since then we added 510 injectors, HKS 264 cams, 2G maf, SAFCII, UICP and the car was running 15psi and creeping to 19psi. This time the car made 210whp and 238wtq. A/F was about 11.5 till about 5500rpms and then it leaned out to about 11.8. Power really dropped of at about 5800rpms, but the I/C after each run was REALLY hot. Any thoughts on why the HP level dropped off. BTW the car has about 300,000kms.

Well there is not much tuning to do. We were just using the SAFC and the runs were to make sure the A/F was good.

Do you have a datalogger? 11.5-11.8 is most likely too lean and is probably causing some knock. The intake temps are probably also contributing to the problem. Get your hands on a datalogger post up some logs.

Do you have a dyno sheet you can post?

I could take a pic of it and post it, if that would work. Is 11.2 A/F about right for these cars?

yea true that on the heatsoak, also what was your water temp reading at during all this?

Don't have an actual temp gauge. But the stock was says it is ok.

By the way the stock temp guage sucks. A FMIC may make a difference. What was the air temp and humidity levels at that can make a difference to. Were you running the same octane gas, Tires worn about the same with the same air pressure. Also you only droped 15 HP but picked up 35tq some of that may have to do with the different cams and tune. I'd say thoes are pretty good numbers at 15psi. Good luck.

I am betting that despite the HP loss, you are actually quicker off the line do to the the 35 ft/lb increase in torque of about 17%. Does the car feel peppier?

Also, I am wondering if changing out the cams adjusted the way your motor is making power. Which means the old versus the new isn't exactly an Macintosh to Granny Smith apples comparison.

It was not our car before the cams went in. It was in the family but I did not drive all the time so I could not say for sure. The car did GTECH the other day at 113MPHOMG but we will have to take it to the track and see. I am adding 550cc injectors in a few days so we will see about getting it tuned a little better.
