Anybody used the Competition Engineering roll cage?

You guys act like im gonna be using this as a race car. Bolt in bars are worse off that what I have built now.

Well, maybe its because you are putting a cage into the car. Even if its a street car, don't you want to know you'll be safe in event of an accident.

I'll have to disagree with the last statment. Bolt-in bars with propper side bars and sandwich plates will be superior to what you have now.

Your weld plate isn't very big either. The purpose of that is to disperse the force from the bars, preventing the bar from just rippin through the sheetmetal. This is why you need to sure 6"x6".

p.s.- They make door bars that swing out if you are that worried about it. Needless to say, you'll be better off with what you have instead of nothing though. :thumb:

Well where I was going was that you have possible unneeded weight on the car by having those side bars that dont have much of a purpose. Thats all...

But it looks great man...

After some thought on what you said, your right. So now im building a roll cage in my dually, the wifes blazer, and my riding mower just to be safe. Now I dont feel safe to walk out to my mail box with out my roll cage hat on also. I tried to post this up to be helpful to others, if you dont like it thats fine, it dont bother me one bit.

Yeah, just giving a little feedback from my experience and judgement. Just a little constructive criticism. Meant nothing personal about it. I'm a firm believer in doing things right, and the first time. If would strongly recommend reworking the side bars, but if you don't think its necessary, no skin off my back.

I tend to agree with Kevin... having the side bars that low has no purpose at all. Well it may give you some more chasis rigedness... but that about it. I would either bring them up or remove them all together as they are extra weight with no use at all.
