Try looking at www.dsmtrader.com I found a few non-turbo engines over there. Just in case, you can't put a turbo engine into your non-turbo engine.

As for turbo charging. You can try selling the car if you can and finding a turbo model. I think it may be cheaper then finding an non-turbo engine and then using a turbo kit like www.hahnracecraft.com on it. Swapping a motor alone will costs over $1,000 + the costs of the engine.

phisk91eclipse,
if you have above average car knowledge, don't sell your car to get the turbo your just gonna screw yourself for insurance.. if you figure that if you turbocharge your n/t and don't tell them you can just claim you don't know piss all about cars and whoever owned it b4 you must have dropped the turbo in.(that's if you ever get in accident or get caught), and doing the conversion i think is a real fun project and very rewarding.. it is very possible and can be done.. but if you are more for the instant gratification adn want speed speed speed now now now than sell it and go turbo
me personally.. i love the challenge.. just my .02 cents...
a turbo would be nice though!!! : ( i hate when i pull up next to one i almost wanna cry..

Yes you can drop a turbo motor in your car, including the redtop Galant VR-4 engine with 510cc injectors, and a big 16, run 15 psi with your stock intercooler, do the wiring changes, get a good clutch and go find the guys who said to sell your car and beat um down. Motor? $1200 from Soken Trade, plus timing belts, water pump- Maybe $200
Downpipe & Exhaust? $500 or less if you know someone. Fuel pump? $150 from any DSM website, and a boost gauge? $60, turbo ecu-$50. Turbo MAS? $50. 2-3days labor and $2500 with clutch. 350HPSleeper.Average price for a turbo model? $1000- 3000, probably with a broke dick tired motor, and will have to perform almost all these mods again to acheive this HP???
I think the choice is obvious

I thought you couldn't drop in a turbo engine into a non-turbo without spending at least $5,000 on custom things. Or does that only apply to 2g?

It drops right in with the same motor mounts. Theres not really anything custom to get except maybe your exhaust. Almost all stock parts off a 1g turbo will make it happen. Junkyards will be your best friend.

who told ya 5g's???
no wayyyyyyyyyyy!!! maybe 1000-1500 on nice used parts..
i am slowly buildin up to convert mine over to turbo and i have a 1g turbo downpipe, injectors, o2 sensor, knock sensor and a bov.. i've only spent around 350 so far.. just shop around
i still need ecu, turbo, intercooler and all piping the 4 more expensive things and some others such as air/fuel ratio, boost guage, stronger clutch bla bla bla but if you shop around right youlll be laughin

As far as the insurance thing goes, insurance companies don't look at a N/T - Turbo like they do a V6 - V8. At least from the ones I talked to, a N/T costs the same for insurance than a turbo. They more look at the body style of the car.

Sorry about everyone. I got 1g and 2g NT to Turbo conversions all confused. So it is the 2gs that have the hardest time then?

This was taken from another forum. This is what you will need when you swap a turbo engine into yours.

ENGINE:
1. complete turbo long block (blcok and head including internals and bolted attachments such as oil pump and such).
2. mass air sensor
3. fuel pressure solenoid
4. turbo intake manifold and throttle body
5. turbo exhaust manifold
6. turbo and related cooling and oil lines
7. intercooler (side mount or front mount)
8. intercooler piping
9. turbo fuel pump
10. BOV
11. turbo injectors
12. injector resistor pack
13. 1g fwd downpipe

transmission
1. nt clutch new or old/ upgraded or stock (my stocker held with 30,000 on stock nt clutch replacement)
2. you'll need to grind off the location pin for the turbo flywheel so you can use the nt flywheel.

(note) the turbo flywheel and clutch will not fit inside the nt bellhousing w/o scratching it up and locking up the engine.

For turning a non-turbo into a stock turbo. This is in theory, and it hasn't be done yet.

-throttle body
-throttle body elbow
-tap a hose barb into the intake manifold (for BOV line)
-uic hose
-lower ic hose
-stock sidemount ic
-turbo intake cam (at or mt depending on your tranny, exhaust cams are the same)
-stock 1g exhaust manifold
-stock 1g downpipe
-14b turbo
-stock 1g o2 snesor housing
-turbo ecu + wiring harness (the ecu plugs for the turbo ecu and several connectors for the mas, fpr solenoid, knock sensor and injector resistor pack)
-450cc stock turbo injectors
-turbo fuel pump
-turbo mas
-upgraded clutch if you have mt (act 2100 at least)
-turbo fwd oil pan
-knock sensor
-injector resistor pack
-all lines to connect turbo to water source off the head (turbotrix)
-all oil lines for the turbo (can be bought from turbotrix)
-new head gasket
-timing belt change
-rods, pistons & rings from a 6 or 7 bolt engine (depending what year your car is)
-block rework & head rework
-fuel pressure solenoid
-knock sensor
-new o2 sensor
-turbo mas (if getting a 2g mas then you need to do the 2g mas conversion)

Again, taken from another board. I give credit to don schultz who gathered all this info.
