whats up guys havent been her in a while hoping u guys could hep me out with something. What is antilag it seems to me the the this cause the turbo to spool up while there is no load on the eng? im new to this perticular thing so go easy on me. about how much would a decent system run me? thanks guys.:thumb:

you have to have Dsmlink or AEM EMS. but you are correct. it spools the turbo while freereving. it can be fatal to your turbo if done incorrectly or just done too much

correct me if im wrong but i think antilag advances the timing enough to send a ball of fire through the turbo to spool the turbo (thats why it could be fatal to the turbo) and thats why you get the flame out of the exhuast too. but ya you can also get a chip with antilag, you dont just need dsmlink or aem ems fyi.

i got a quick question for this thread, i hear that people who have a safc can set there ne-points down and the last ne-point would be set at 4500 the car will just bounce like a rev limiter when held to the floor, a couple noobs i see doing this and they claim AL, i just am curious if this causes engine damage cause i might be able to get there car when it (POPS) ROFL

There are several different levels of antilag. The common system for DSMers at this point is just to retard the ignition and throw fuel but there is quite a bit more that can be done.

Evos that are for other markets specifically EDM and JDM plus some AUDM came with an actual antilag system that consisted of a vacuum canister, solenoid, and piping that routed from the intercooler pipes directly to the exhaust manifold. The systems are disabled by default but can be enabled through a flash of the ecu. I've been trying to find one of these setups from an evo1-3 but they are relatively rare. I've been considering what it might take to rig up a system from a later evo but I don't have the money for it at the moment.

If anyone does ever find an evo1-3 ALS then please let me know. At this point only DSMs with evo8 ecu swaps would be able to use the system effectively. My understanding is that these systems can provide over a minute of anti-lag with relatively little wear on the turbo.

It works a little bit, more like a stationary rev limiter but it will also wash down the cylinder walls past the rings and contaminate the oil with fuel. Expect premature bearing wear and excessive fuel consumption.
