I'm pretty new to these types of cars but when I went to install some stereo components I was surprised by the lack of room. I was not about to remove the spare tire or bolt them on the back of seat unless no other option presented itself. So I went for under the rear seat method. So far I have not had any incidents of thermal shutdown but its still pretty cool out.

I have to remove 90% of the seat foam but all is back in and the fitment is excellent. Since I don't every plan on having any body sit back there its a great option. Thought I would pass it on so others may give it a try.

How long do you usually run them?
I would think with the hot sun you would have problems with the foam acting as insulation and reflecting the heat back at the amps.

Maybe not, depending on the quality of the foam they used.

i can garuntee those amps are going to cut out....the have no air to cool them :notgood:

And just what kind of "garuntee" is that? :sneaky: you offering money? free stuff??

I was thinking that if it does happen this summer maybe some kind of holes drilled through the floor pan with some kind of baffles might let some air out/in. Maybe even a fan or two. Those Kenwoods are pretty large and the housing itself is one big heatsink so I think Im gonna be okay. But with "garuntees" floating around....well just have to wait :talon:

Well....Holes in the body are not going to help much, especially in the rain. Unless you want water in you amps. As for fans…well, you’ll just be blowing hot air around, unless you work out some kind of ducting that will pull in cool air, and exhaust the hot air.

Give it a shot, I would like to know if/how long it works.

You said you’re not going to have anyone sit in the back anyway…why not do away with the back seat, and construct some kind of enclosure for the amps. Maybe some plexy and MDF, or whatever.

yeah those amps will not last as long as if they were in the open air but best of luck to you and clean up that wiring it looks like a fire will start any minute. but im just giving u hard time i would suggest building a new false floor aka new spare cover that incorporates the amps it will be heavier then the stock one but atleast you got something cool and alot better for the life of those amps.
