Having trouble finding an answer to this... I was looking at the STM pigtail fuses for power to my AutoMeter mechanical gauges. Now it appears to be plug and play. Put it in the fusebox and run the wires to it etc. doesn't seem like you have to even cut into the harness at all. Seems like a much cleaner install. I have four or five gauges I'm putting in and was thinking about getting two fuses. They come in 5,10,15,20,25 and 30 amps. Would getting 2 be ok for the gauges? My confusion relates to the lighting. I don't want the light running non-stop during the day. Only when I turn the lights on. Would the dimmer wires be a smart place to tap in for all the gauges? That way everything is the same brightness. Also if anyone that has used these can tell me anything about them. Do you like them? Pros? Cons? Anything at all.

Thank You
-Jason

hi. they function. you can power up your clocks of the cigar lighter wires and get the power for lights of the bulb that next out there .Do not forget if you connect so replacement the fuse of the cigar lighter by one of higher amperage

I am putting four in. Okay got it so if I do goto connect some with the cig lighter I need to replace that fuse with a higher amp one. Also thank you for the link. It wasn't the main question I guess I could have left the dimmer part out and did searching but I thought I'd include it in my original post. I wanted to see if anyone ever used those pigtail fuses and how did they work. But thank you.

Your welcome for the like, I want trying to come across as a prick or anything, the more I read those Tech Articles, The more I find LOL. I had just seen that link last night so it was fresh on my mind. As far as the fuses that come with the pigtails, I couldn't tell you. The radio fuse, if you tap into the line it would be best to up the amps on the fuse.

No problems at all no worries I get it! I'm glad you sent it to me. Thanks for the info again!

I'm not experienced with electrical work but from the Dimmer How-To and a few other threads I believe I know what needs to be done. Please correct me if I'm wrong:

I'll tap into the cigarette 12v for the Positive, find a ground in a similar location, and use the Dimmer Switch for the Amber wire (for backlighting) on my Innovate gauges? How do people go about extending all the wires to make it around the cabin? soldering?
