99 GSX gears grinding?

i have a 99 gsx. just got it to drive. Im having trouble with shifting. im not sure if the car has an after market clutch or anything but i know the shifter assembly itself is after market. Second gear works but it grinds a little when putting into gear? Also i noticed that it grinds sometimes when entering 1st gear not even moving? Sometimes it works and other times it grinds? Its also sticky when entering 3rd gear. Sometimes it will lock it fine... others it will grind or have to pop it to neutral and then press it into 3rd again? Advice... help greatly appreciated!! thanks!! =)

I would check the master cylinder, slave, clutch fluid, trans fluid and your clutch pedal adjustment.

could be bearing play in the transmission. fix it before it ruins your case. but yeah, check the clutch side of things first.
