I gotta write up what I did to this car over the years some day, but that seems like a project for a different day.
Anyways, right now I'm working on implementing the Sensor Data from my Innovate MTX-D Oil Temp/Pressure Gauge into my newly acquiered Haltech Nexus S3.
I don't want to splice into the sensors itself and since the Innovate has the ability to output Data via a Mini Molex connector to a Serial Interface for PC I figured I should be able to sniff that data.
I got a ESP32 and some pigtails for the Mini Molex Out of the Innovate. Wrote a little Code and I am acutally getting some raw data. It took me about 5-6 hours including troubleshooting since I plugged into the OUT of my old SCG-1 (which I'm gonna remove now since I went Standalone) instead of the MTX-D 🤦‍♂️.
Now I'm able to convert the Serial Data into Analog Voltages and that's what I'm giving the Nexus S3 as a start.
Unfortunately Haltech doesnt offer Custom CAN Inputs as of yet, but after some talking to an Engineer at Haltech he sent me over the CAN ID's of the IO Box they offer. So theoretically I should be able to convert my Serial Data to CAN via a MCP2515 (or similiar). --> No Analog Voltages besides the Sensors itself - All Digital 👍.
