Vacuum is around -12 in. Hg at idle. If I ground just the timing pin, there's a slight idle surge. If I then ground the diagnostic pin, the engine dies almost immediately.
With neither pins grounded, the idle is unstable but I wouldn't call it a surge. It's set with Link for 850 rpm, but it is very unstable and ranges anywhere from mostly 800-1050...sometimes going as low as 740 and as high as 11xx.
Other issues are:
- Hard cold starts, after which it will die once or twice. Once warmed up a little bit (not all the way to operating temp) it'll stay running fine.
- Power loss
- Slow spooling (Evo III 16G, 22psi at 4500 rpm)
- Setting global to -39 and deadtime to 360 as 97gsxIA suggested as a starting point in thread linked below resulted in extremely lean conditions (maxing out AFR gauge at 18+) and the engine sounded bad and wouldn't stay running. With deadtime at 360 I had to go all the way to -11 for global to reach 14.7ish. (bounces around a lot from 14.4-15, sometimes as low as 14.1 or as high as 15.1)
I've done extensive boost leak testing and the system can reach 30 psi no problem. From 25 psi to 18 psi takes almost 13 seconds, and from 18 to 11 psi takes an additional 24 seconds.
What else could cause this?
If interested, here's a thread where 97gsxIA has been helping me diagnose my issues - more info in there on the larger situation. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/co...ds-hard-cold-starts-slow-spooling-etc.495371/
