Can u put a 4g63T in a 1994 Probe.....can it be done or do u think it would be 2 much work.....

Be sure to bend your knees and keep your back straight. And I'd get help, a Probe hatch has almost as bad a lift-over height as a DSM. Careful in closing the hatch, I'm afraid you might hit the glass when closing it and it only takes a little pop to make that glass turn into an instant glasschunk-shower.
And any fluids that leak from a 4G63T will eff up the cargo space carpeting, so be sure to take precautions. Use heavy tiedowns, that thing will want to roll all over the place and bash the plastic trim.

You'd be better-off just renting a pickup than ever considering anything as hammerheaded as trying to put a Mits motor in a Mazda. But yeah, the car's bigger than the engine, so supposedly you could waste enough time and money to do it.

I agree with Defiant. Just make sure you get a nice tarpoline that won't rip and maybe take the head off. Just watch out for excessive oil and coolant still in the block. Sudden movements can make it spill all over your interior. Watch out for your ride height as well, the motor might make the back end sag more then you want. Anyway goodluck and I hope we helped with your quality worded question.

Maybe on a 1G GT turbo, but not on the 2nd gen. Your better off going with a KLZE swap, and some spray.

Why go through all that hassle when you can get the klze put in if its the gt. if not then there is a company that make complete turbo systems for the probe and probe gt and I believe the prices were alittle cheaper then turbonetics.

Go to probetalk and pm a guy name dan. Screen name grogsv he can custom build you a turbo also.

Yeah, you would be much better off to swap the KLZE motor in and then add a turbo. Just swapping motors bumps the HP up to 200, adding the turbo significantly increases that. It would save you a bunch of money.

From what I have heard the KLZE don't take well to turbos. For a turbo set up, your better off staying with the KL03 and slapping a turbo on it.

With a KLZE and I/E/H my buddys MX6 LS went 14.5@97mph, preety quick car. The only thing you have to worry about is the KLZE's ECU, has a governer in there at 128mph.

yep,be very careful..

my experience: i was dropping off a motore in a stationwagen(motror was tied down) i backed into trhe guys driveway so thast i could open the rear door,an unload the engine right into the guys garage.. well i backed up..and hit the brakes..motor got loose, and slid backwards..just tapping the rear glass..KABOOM..(it was like in slowmotion) the rear windoiw exploded!

Cliffnotes: motor in cargoarea, backed up,motor moved and destoyed rear windowu can never tie down a motor enough.. best to use a pickup truck

I gotta admit, those ford probe gt's the v6 versions looks pretty nice out the factory, the wheels match the looks nicely. Imagine a red one with those white wheels. THe car to me looks like a rwd car but isnt :( . Putting a 4g63 up front and getting a starion tranny? Just an idea.

that defiant is a funny dude. he should seriously look into writing for comedians

Just get 1g turbo and mod that. The motor is very well built, makes gobs of low-end torque, and loves boost. I'm running 23psi on my T3 .48/.60

The KLZE doesn't respond well to turbo, and it's a LOT more money to get that engine and still only put down 200hp.

Agreed. The 2.2 Turbo Powerplant is a great base to work off of. I've had a 89GT with the 2.2 Turbo, the 2.2 NA, and a 93 2.5 V6. The 1st gens don't look nearly as good, but can make gobs of power as stated above. People also swap the F3T's into them!

Seems as he already has a 94 Probe though, fitting that motor in that car isnt worth the money. Bad ideal. It would, however, fit into that engine bay better than a 1st generation Probe.

OMG look at the location of tha tbov on that probe  , the car must not liek boost if it put down only 200 hp at 23psi

Uh, he was putting down 200HP @16psi on the stock turbo. He's NOW running 23psi on a T3 (I'd love to see what your putting down now). My friend has a PGT and he beats all sorts of cars he shouldnt, esp from a stop. The car has a lot of torque (stock: 145hp; 190tq). As for putting a 4G63 in a Probe (any year)... Yeah sure you can use it... to haul the motor around in the trunk that is. Good one Defiant. :p

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm dying to see the numbers with this setup now, I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up and then I'll hit the dyno again.

The only downside with all this torque down-low is that the diff-pins tend to break and proceed to immediately grenade the tranny. Happened to me once already and I was just cruising 65mph in 5th. It blew up so bad that it took a whole 1/4 out of the bell-housing and parts of the tranny went all over the highway :thumbdown

Other than that, the torque is LOTS of fun

Not sure if you are talking about the 2nd Gen Probe GT, cause they had a 2.5 V6 164hp/160tq.

The one he's talking about is the first generation Probe GT with the turbocharged 2.2 (stock: 145hp; 190tq).
