OK So I am going to buy a transmission later today.

I have a 95 RS FWD 420A Engine Manual Transmission.

I am wondering if all the 2g Manual transmissions are the same and compatible? 1995-1996 1997-1999?

I know that the AWD isn't compatible with FWD.

I don't know if my question makes sense. Please let me know if it doesn't. Thank you in advance!

No the 4g63 fwd will not work. Look for the Talon ESI (95-98) and Avenger (95-99) as both of these also came with the 420a if you cannot find a Eclipse 420a transmission at the junkyard.

I knew I forgot to add something :p I know the 4G63 and 4G63T transmissions won't be compatible with it :p

Thank you, I forgot about the Talon and Avenger engines! :D

So I did some researching, in case someone asked the same question. Maybe this will help them out since it helped me. Thank you MN_Eclipze

So the Talon ESI 95-98, Eclipse 95-99 N/T, and Avenger 95-99 will all work with the 420A engine/transmission correct?

ESi: 2.0 L DOHC 2.0 L 420A engine non-turbo I4, 140 hp (110 kW) at 6000 rpm and 130 lb·ft (180 N·m) at 4800 rpm
Eclipse RS: Base FWD model equipped with a 140 hp 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Chrysler 420A engine
Eclipse GS: Equipment upgraded FWD model equipped with a 140 hp (100 kW) 2.0 L 16-valve DOHC Chrysler 420A engine

The Avenger had a 103 in (2.62 m) wheelbase and used either a 2.0 L inline-four engine (the Chrysler 420A) or a Mitsubishi-designed 2.5 L V6. The four-cylinder was coupled to either a five-speed manual transmission, shared with the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eagle Talon, or a four-speed automatic.

A Neon transmission will also work. Depending on the year some had a cable clutch and the bell housing has be swapped along with the shifter levers
