30k tune up really necessary?

im looking at getting this '98 gsx, but my only concern is that it has 51k without any kind of tune up ever done on it, except for oil changes. is this really going to be a problem? i know that the 60k tune up is a big important one cuz of the timing belt, but should i even worry about the car not having the 30k tune up done?

well check the belts, see if u can do a compression test, take it for a test drive feel how it pulls at WOT, see how it idels, open the oil cap and check to see the inside of the valve cover and see what the colour it is(the less dark the residue the better), then check other fluids and see the over all condition of the car. As long as the belts havent ####ed up then just replace them to have peace of mind.

I would change the spark plugs, too, if there's never been a tune-up.

The biggest thing done at 30k on a GSX is mainly changing the fluids in the diffs and the transfer case... Request that be done or paid for and you're good to go!

Change them yourself...only takes a few minutes and isn't very hard at all....that way you can use some good gear oil.
