So my friend has a 90 eagle talon and we've been putting it back together from previous owner. But we have ran into a snag. The o2 housing, we ordered one for it and we waited two weeks and it never came. So we decided we would call around and see who can make one if we bring the car to them. Well we found a place within an hour from the house. But they want 365$ for it. Is it really worth that much????

I guess that's for the owner to decide, but I'd definitely ask to see examples of his work and make sure he builds exactly what I want for that price.

Custom parts are always going to cost more. There are some nice tubular O2 housings out there for around 250 dollars, but they are a pre-fabricated part using a jig. One off customs will cost more, but you can get exactly what you want. Complexity of the design and type of materials the owner wants also has an effect.

That said, it looks at a glance like all he needs is a very simple O2 housing... Also just because he quoted you that price, doesn't mean you can't offer a lower price for the part. Maybe he takes the offer, maybe he doesn't, but it rarely hurts to find out.

seems like a pretty steep price for a simple o2 housing. but the location and working on it would be the pain, alot of trial and error. so if you figured $100/hr labor, a decent exhaust fabricator could eyeball it, and have something mocked up in 1-1.5 hours, finish weld it, add in materials and tax, youd prolly be at least 250-300.

Thats what i was thinking. But one of the welder there said that if we bring the car by his house he would do it for 80$ plus parts. So we're just gonna do that. I mean we found one pre made But it's was 250$. Lol

80 is a smoking deal. Prolly 150 with parts. That's how the local exhaust shop guy here is. Spent maybe 1500 in the past 3 year having 6 vehicles done there, full custom exhaust to my freind and my specs. Love guys like that.
