My buddy gave me gave me a INJEN brand intake with a 2g MAF and cone filter. He blew up his talon so he doesn't need it. Is there some kind of adapter for the oval pipe to the round 1g mas?
I didn't see any answer to this question on the forum so I don't know what I can do. Jury rigging it is ok with me for now as long as it works and is safe, until I get injectors and SAFC NEO and then I'll use the 2gmaf.

Thanks guys.

I'm gonna take my injen pipe into Lowes speed shop tomorrow and play around with couplers and see what I can figure out. I know they have some coupler/ reducers in the plumbing and the intake pre turbo isn't pressurized so I think it would hold up just fine.
Thank you sir, I'll post a pic of whatever Ghetto-Fabulous contraption I come up with. I was also wondering if those 'spectre' brand couplers from autozone would work to connect the intake to the turbo inlet without turning into a pile of melted plastic goo?

I took the pipe with me to lowes and the only coupler I found was 4 inch to 3 inch. It looks a little malformed when being formed to the oval but I think when it's together it's going to look alright. It is a downspout coupling I think, and it was 6 bucks.

Well heres my Ghetto Fabulous contraption as promised! You can laugh at me all you want but I think it's actually not THAT bad looking. ROFL

The injen pipe was free so why not? LOL. I've got less than 5 bucks in this.

For those wondering, the 1g MAS is actually slightly larger than 3 inch. It took a little bit of stretching to fit the coupler over it, but it looks like it's going to work pretty well.

I don't think it will fit in your engine bay once oyu have the filter on it. YOu may have to cut the pipe down and re weld. but hey, oyu can't beat a free intake pipe.

I was able to wedge it in by turning the pipe a bit. I really dislike the way it sits though so when I get the time I think I'm going to yank it back out for now and play around at the home depot with their ABS piping and see if I can't build something that doesn't cram my air filter into the sidemounts boost hose. I went through HELL trying to get that stupid air can out, had to bend a bracket all to hell to get it loose.

Was ditching the air can and running a cone filter over the MAS a bad idea?

I don't know exactly what you mean. bAck in the day, instead of hacking the aircan, i usewd to seal a thin spacer on the bottom of a k&n and use the factory aircan clamps to clamp the filter down just like the aircan lid.

Define "bad". I've always had the idea that stock air cans/boxes took in cold air from outside the bay, which made them "better". But they are also restrictive and ugly, which makes them "worse". LOL

If he also gave you the 2g maf as well why don't you buy the adapter for the 2g to 1g or make a adapter here is the site for making one 2G MAF in a 1G TEL/GVR4 also you don't need injectors or a safc to run the 2g maf on your car.
Why doesn't he need a way to tune it. Most people throw in Evo 560cc injectors to compensate for the extra air, but I'm pretty sure a 1g with a 2g Mas and stock 450cc injectors will run lean.

you don't need injectors or a safc to run the 2g maf on your car.

Yeah, I knew a local who said that. You could smell his red hot exhaust manifold from a mile away. The car now has idling problems and is for sale. I wonder why...

Unless you want to max out fuel trims and run lean, you absolutely do need larger injectors. Even the 2g/550 combo is considered a back-yard mod that would be better if used with some kind of tuning device.

I have to mention that with the SPA Hose I have on now, the BOV is completely silent. It's actually quieter than the stock rubber snorkel was with the rubber recirc hose! Kind of disappointing to be honest.

I'm sorry? Don't know what else to say. It's a mod meant for function, not sound or form. Theres just a possibilty of improving sounds or aesthetics.

Guess I should put a disclaimer in my write-up.

I definitely would not run a 2g mas without an injector upgrade (evo 560cc work great for a good price) and a way to tune it. It's just asking for trouble, and there are enough things to buy without paying for replacements to get back where you were.

Also a fuel pump upgrade and rewire is recommended.
