Hello immediately after replaceing my wheel bearing a slight grinding noise appeared whenever i would make left turns so i took a look under the car and by the bearing i had replaced.....i didnt see anything and havent had time really to investigate further.....more recently i have started to get a click or clunk whenever i switch from 1st to reverse or vice versa, and has begun to click or clunk in second or third gear....from searching iv done i believe it is coming from the cv joint....my real question is if and when the cv joint breaks/fails would it damage my car in any way and would having it rebuilt be the best option or just replace it?...Thanks

with a 2g the strut assembly surrounds the axle itself keeping it from doing much damage. if anything it might take out an abs sensor wire/actual brakeline. but those are so far away the only way they would get damaged is by shrapnel of any kind form the axle breaking finallly. if it does break the wheel will stay attached and still roll perfectly fine so don't get all worried right away cause the post above kinda sounded a lil misleading.

all in all the axle may be on its way. just keep an eye on it/ investegate further.

It would be wise to find time to fix the problem. You really dont want to have your axle break causing damage and leaving you with a fat towing bill to pay. I would recheck your work on the wheel bearing install depending on what your removed. If the noise started after you fixed the wheel bearing then check for loose bolts that you tampered with. Also check the ball joints with a pry bar to verify they are tight.
