I am thinking about taking my 1G manifold and cutting it off at the end of the runners to put a larger plenum on there. I have seen this done on other motors, but have not seen it done on the 4g63 intake. Anyone with some good info. on this please chime in. I know the Magnus and Forrester manifolds are awesome, I am just thinking I could possibly gain a little power up top with going to slightly shorter runners with the larger plenum.

Also, please keep this simple, and no arguing about manifolds, etc. Just post info. if you have knowledge about this topic thanks guys. :thumb:

jsut get it extrude honed and be done with it.. with all the work ur askinf to do to ur mani u should EH it or buy a new one. just imo....

Well, I just bought a new TIG welder and I have a buddy that makes custom manifolds that would help me with the plenum design. I think I would be able to do it for under $100.

It makes so much sense. If the 1g manifold kicks all other manifolds on there arses from idle to 5000 or so why not just weld on a larger plenum and give it a good port to add the extra top end it needs. I had cut a manifold in half the long way to check it out. these things are not so easy to cut open. the aluminum is very thick. I used a electric sawsaw. you may want to try a band saw.
As for a plenum an round or oval one should fit well. Stay away from square ones. If you can add some low end as well as add 20 hp on top it would make a nice street manifold. It is funny all this new talk of velocity stacks and looking today at the factory manifold it had them from the day one. For those that don't believe me just take a look.

It doens't make sense to me becuase its not the plenum that causes the other manifolds to perform better at the top of the rev range. Its the runners length, taper and angle. If you want to waste your money to prove me right, feel free to do so.

Welding regular aluminum is hard enough welding cast aluminum is even harder, its very porous and is hard to seal.
