Hey evryone I have a 97 gs convertible shell with a 1g turbo engine. I am having a little bit of a problem I don't know what kind of downpipe and exhaust I need. I don't know if i need a 1g downpipe and 420a catback exhaust or a 1 g downpipe and 1 g turbo back. Or if I would have to det a 1g downpipe and have a custom exhaust made. Can someone please help me with my dilemma. Thanks

i used a 90 exhaust on my 97. the 90 exhaust turns toward the right and exits out the passenger side... the 97 turns to the left and exits on the driver side... the down pipe and intermediate pipe are the same except the exhaust mount locations. depending on your level of level of mechanics or the level of the shops around you... you should be albe to make them work. i turned the pipe 180 and it fit almost perfectly.. and the pipe that went up over my rearend worked on the opposite side. now this was a 1g thermal technologies exhaust. the only thing that didn't work was the muffler in the back. i had to cut the flange off and add an extension.

Wait so I can use a 90 exhaust on my 97, but what about a downpipe? I'm still pretty confused here.

I have a 1G engine in a 2G, my set up is as follows:

GS-T down pipe - followed by - 2G FWD catback

I have that set up, it works.

I have a down pipe that deletes the cat and goes straight to the cat back.

My down pipe is custom since I didnt want to buy one, so I made one, but I am sure that any year for a gs-t will fit. You MUST, however, get a 2G FWD cat back/ after cat exhaust, due to the set up and secondary O2 bung. Hope that helps.

Agreed you need a downpipe that will bolt to your o2 housing then a catback system for a 2g fwd...

Does it matter that I have the gs spyder chassis? Cause I think the the gs spyder and the gs-t spyder chassis are different I'm not 100 percent though.

Does anyone know if the chassis matters?

Im confused does it matter or not?

The cat back exhaust is the same for all 2g FWD. I used a 3" gst catback on my old rs-t. I can't help you with the downpipe, sorry. If you transplanted a 4g63 in a gs chasis then you should be skilled enough to make something work.
