1g/2g coil packs the same?

Well it's just how it sounds, are the 1g/2g coil packs the same? Mine is bad and i found a 2g for cheap.

As in same size and shape no, will not "bolt in". I have SEEN these coilpacks wired on 1gs before so I assume they can be hardwired in. Anyone else that can help out?

The connector looks the same, 3wire, triangle, like mine but I wanted to make sure before buying it. As far as mounting it i'd rather have it back were it belongs but its not neccesary, right now i just need one that works so i can get to the shootouts.

They are interchangable but have different brackets.

I am not 100% sure, but I have heard that the pinouts on the connects are round on the first gens and flat on the second gens. Mine are flat. It is a 2g. Are your pins flat or round on the 92?

I can vouch for this as well. I've had 1G and 2G coil packs mounted in my car. You can work the brackets to fit the intake manifold you're using in both cases. It takes a little work, cutting and grinding, but it works very well. The two coil packs perform very similar, but your mileage may vary. I had a random misfire problem drive me nuts for a while when I swapped a 1G intake manifold and 1G coil pack on my car with the 2G head, 2G Ignitor and 2G Crank/Cam sensors. I swapped ignitors, plugs, wires, and 1G coil packs onto the car with no help at all. I finally modified my original 2G coil pack to fit on the 1g bracket and have had perfect ignition ever since. After this, I even swapped a 1G head on the car and set the misfire detection to off in DSMLink (to get rid of the random CE and running on two cylinders problem...). Still works perfectly.

I can modify the bracket thats not a problem. Do you think the coils could be taken out of the bracket and swap brackets? I don't have one here to look at?

Just make sure that the coils are grounded well.

The 2g works with a good ground but can't be swapped to the 1g bracket without modding it first. Thanks for your help.
