I am in the process of looking for a FMIC for my 14b 2G and I am looking for some options and opinions on what works. This is just my Daily driver so I really don't want o have to go through the hassel of fabbing up my own piping and I don't want to spend and arm and a leg. I think $350-400 should be a decent amount to spend on an off brand set up. I have searched around on the forum and people seem to be getting decent results from ebay set ups, but I can't seem to find one for my combo of parts. can never seem to find a kit with the "J" tube. Is that something that I will have to buy separate? I think an ebay intercooler setup with work fine for me because I don't plan on turning the boost up alot and I just want something the won't heat soak really badly on these hot Atlanta days. Anyway that is my issue and I hope someone has an option for me or can point my in the right directions.

Thanks in advance

Yes the ebay kits have been proven to work quite well. I'm sure you've read the big thread discussing them, but if not here is the link http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/new...alk-ebay-fmic-especially-if-you-have-one.html

That should point you in the right direction and help you decide if you want to purchase one or not. As for the J pipe....yes you will need one and will have to buy separate if you go the ebay route. They are pretty inexpensive and you can usually find one in the classifieds for cheap.

Check out the punishment racing kits, they are cheap cheap cheap and apparently are very good quality for the price. If you look around there have been a few guys mentioning that the parts they received from punishment are very well made, and that they have really really good customer service and such.

I'm going with the 14b setup and I have a trust IC that uses the same piping route that the SMIC used. This seems like it will work well, but make sure you get the right J pipe, the one I ordered is shorter than most, it hardly extends 6 inches as opposed to the full J.

i got my core from cxracing on ebay for 107 shipped and its great quality. ill be making my own 2.5 aluminum pipes.

I need some info from the guys that are already using the SSAC 2g fmic set up. The description on the website says that it already comes with a blow off flang welded on it. My questions is which BOV flange does it come with?

DSM INTERCOOLER "KIT" 1995 - 1999 2ND GEN 4G63 Performance Racing Products for International Sales from SSAutochrome Inc.

Also for the guys using the SSAC 2g FMIC with a14b or 16g which "j" tube are you using?

Yeah it comes with the 1g bov flange. Its a great fmic for the price and for those of us that are not looking into putting down more than 400whp.

The j pipe that i'm using with mine is: eBay Motors: Turbo Aluminum J Pipe Eclipse Talon Laser 1G 2G DSM (item 200250486330 end time Sep-09-08 18:15:00 PDT)

Wow that's a really cheap price for that setup. I'm curious if those pipes are beaded though, that would bring me peace of mind if I were to purchase the kit. Also, I'm assuming these kits are made for the T25 routing? Anyone running this kit with a 14B already? What bends did you buy?

My money would go to ETS for the street core! And ask for the group buy if its still avalible, or try to get another group buy started...

Considering Defiant will cut off my fingers and toes one at a time for vendor bashing :shhh:. I wont go into my extreme hate for SSAC, ppl and products.. Yes I have the Kit and HATE IT! Everything about it!
Thats all I will say in the open forum, PM me if you want details. I will try not to rant to mutch...:notgood:

You really can't go wrong with an FMIC unless you go too small for your plans. You could even stick with the dejon powerhouse sidemount and still make lots of power on that, especially with an IC sprayer.
Really what you end up spending the crazy amount of money for is: 1)Brand Name. 2) Quality. 3) Fitment. 4)Actual testing.
It's very hard for any vendor to compete with the FMIC cores found on ebay. They're good quality and cheap as sin. However you need some fabrication skills or know someone that does if you choose the ebay route.

For example, my FMIC cost me $185 all fabricated by myself of course and not including the T-bolt clamps i already had.

Some things to keep in mind:
:If your thinking about getting rid of A/C do it before you install the FMIC. The condensor is just another thing blocking fresh cool air to your radiator.
Create some ducting for the FMIC to the radiator -just search on this there is some great threads.--->http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/245981-fmic-ducting.html
Make sure you get your pipes beaded and make sure you get T-bolt clamps for high boost applications.
A lot of people seem to have an issue with FMIC install and then they overheat, so just research what others have done and what's proven before you sell yourself on a specfic FMIC kit.

G'luck!

that is pretty good 185 for your whole fmic setup, i would really like to see some pictures of how you ran your pipes and what style intercooler you are using. Also where did you get the pipes?

The rusted piping bothered me so i repainted the piping and took pictures of how its routed, along with my custom catch can setup.
