14 b question

I had to replace my manifold with one from a 2g. While taking the 1g mani off I broke one of the 4 bolts that hold the turbo to the meni in the turbo. After about 3 hours of tring to drill the bolt out all I did was make a messl. My buddie had a blown 14 b with a good exhaust housing. There is one difference between the turbos that I can see. On my friends there is an allignment key in the housing. Mine does not have the allignment key. The housing seems to fit fine and with the wastegate on there it is hard to mess up the allignment of the housings. Do you think I will have any problems? BTW my car is a 92 awd and my friends is a 90 fwd. Should make any difference though.

Sounds like the alignment dowel just fell out as it did on my old 14b. As you said, with the wastegate bolted on, it can reall only go one way so it should be fine.

Just an fyi for anybody that has to do this. I strongly reccomend outting the band that holds the thurbo togeather loosly and then mounting the turbo to the mani. There is about 1/4 inch clearence from the water line bracket and the radiator hard line. What a pita.
