I just recently stripped my motor and decided to rebuild do idiots owning it before me.. Anyways I found out my block is 0.50 over... And the wall have a little wear on them.. Long story short I just got all my other mod's together and ready to assembly.. Just wanna have my block redone so it doesn't give out.. How far is to far to go? and am I gunna need custom pistons and if so does anyone know a good company for pistons that oversized?

You did typo didn't you? 0.50 is a 1/2" over bore. That would mean it was taken out to 3.8465"

Its quite obvious its a typo. He means .050.

.060 is also the largest on the shelf overbore I have seen. You start cutting the walls pretty thin if you were to go larger.

How are you sure its .050 over? Did you have a decent machine shop measure the bore? If so, what is the bore at?

Well someone could have spent crazy $$$ and sleaved the block. Stranger things have happened (not likelyLOL) but who knows.:sneaky:

Are you sure its not 0.5mm? 0.5mm would only be .020 over. Take that thing to a machine shop and see what they recommend.

Like "Purevil" stated are you sure the it is .050 over or 3.396 diameter bore. Or do the pistons say .5 in which case it is .030 over or a 3.366 diameter bore.

After going outside and checking the piston dome's myself I gathered this info.. Contrary to what the machine shop told me..

The piston head says 63dT with the T being lager then the D... When i checked the piston page on SBR, I found out that there stock pistons.. But under the 63DT was a 0.50.. (obviously not a .050.. My stupidity for listening to a shop and not doing the research myself considering he told me it was Ross pistons and Eagle rods..) But the 0.50 was only on the middle 2 pistons..

So i would assume its a stock block that hasn't even been redone?.. Or would it be a 5mm bore?..

The original reason I thought my block had been redone is because the head had been milled atleast twice before, and the original pictures I saw of the piston dome's had looked different..

So to conclude, is my only option sending my block away to see what (if any) is was re-bored to or can someone on here gimmie any info :D I would bring it to another shop but every one of these damn machine shops on LONG ISLAND, suck.. They dont know what there talking about

First off, a correction to my last post. "It should state .020 over not .030 for a finished bore diameter of 3.366" sorry.

You should take the block to a qualified machine shop and have the bores measured to verify their doameter, and oversize if there is one. Or you could do it yourself if you have access to the necessary equiptment, or enlist a freind who does.

5mm is .197 in inches, therefore I doubt that they are 5mm oversize pistons.

Most of the stock pistons & stock replacement pistons are marked with metric system values. I.E. .5 = .020, .75=.030, 1=.040.

Well like I've quoted before on this site.. New York sucks for shops when it comes to DSM's.. Atleast Long Island.. And as for qualified shops.. Only ones around here a for hondas... And dont get me wrong.. I own 2 hondas.. But i'd never bring this kind of an engine to a half a$$ed honda shop.. There good with cheap and quick.. Not expensive and reliable.. So i'd have to send my block out and cost to send it out and pay for shipping both ways it stupid in my opinion.. Hense why i'm trying to find out answers now on this block and what I should do or if I should buy a 2.1l destroked..

Basic machine work really isn't anything special, almost any shop should be able to measure the bore and give sound advice.

Pure... I agree.. But see its not always the case... Over here atleast no one gives a #### about how your shit runs or how it works... they just caera about rigging it as cheap as possibly to make another buck off the job

When we rebuilt my motor we bored to 20 over. The bore it came with when I bought the car was 10 over. I thought that was weird.
