Not my kind of thing, but I wouldn’t call it cringe.

Nowhere close to being cringe. However, I had one of those flat style covers and didnt like the way it fit because the wire boot stick up slightly higher than its placement in the valve cover and felt like it was crushing the boots just to make it it fit when i shouldnt have to.. Thats why they were cheaper. The oem and other replicas of that fashion are embossed down the middle to account for that and i ended up picking up one of those instead. Something to be aware of.

I have that but says DSM. I just wanted to hang it up.

You do need some washers for shimming it up to make it clear the plug boots
