- Background
- I needed something to run around the city with, I gave my son my New Beetle because his old car was not worth repairing. I saw this car at an indoor storage compound where we store our fifth wheel for the winter. I loved the design and figured with a bit of cleaning up and TLC it would be great for us. I've been around cars since the mid 60's. I worked at a machine shop that specialized in engine rebuilding. By the time I was 14, I had over a dozen engine builds. When I picked up this car I wasn't too concerned about what the body or interior were like, so long as the powertrain was good. I never thought that I would have so many problems locating parts for it.
