I just recently started my 95 gsx for the first time. I am now having boost/compressor surge problems since. It builds boost to about 15 psi around 5000 rpms and then the boost drops to 0 as I leave my foot on the gas. As the boost drops it gets compression surge and every time I let off the gas. I took it to AMS and they did a boost leak test and said the turbo may be mismatched. Could this be a mismatched turbo or can it be something else?
Heres a link for the turbo, I got it with the 38mm internal WG

So im guessing that you have no boost leaks correct? What type of BOV are you using. A cause of compresor surge is that hte BOv is not oppening. or it is (greddy type S) tightened down to much

I have the Blitz Bov with the vac line coming straight from the manifold. I put my buddies blitz bov on to see if the BOV is defected and it made no difference. I tried every setting from the sofest to the hardest on the BOV and got the same results.

I too have experienced surge issues. They were bad enough for me to invest in a tial BOV with no change in the problem. I adjusted the actuactor arm but it still does the same thing. I also experience flutter at 20 psi. I believe this to be the actuator as well. I've checked for boost leaks and even doubled up the clamps. Not very happy with performance overall due to the problems.

Also have you tried VTA just to see if it changes.

I'm still trying to get a hold of bullseye, they have not returned my call yet.
And I'm already VTA, I have the gm MAF after my BOV.

okay you mean that the maf is closest to the intake manifold? or vice versa?

UPDATE
Well I traded in the H3 for one of their 60 trims, and now I still have the same problem. AMS is telling me the same thing is that my problem is got to be from the turbo. Is any else having problems with these turbos/housings?

The to4e 60 trim(not to be confused with the 60-1) and the to4b h3 / V trims are turbos thats have alot of surge characteristics.
Your 60 trim needs a bigger tubine wheel like a stage 5 to combat the surging.
What did bullseye have to say about this?

None of the posts deleted talked about surge issues, they "discussed" Bullseye as a vendor.

Oops, sorry, my error. It was this post that I was referring to and thought it had been deleted:

I used the Vtrim. I had to get rid of it because it would surge on my built 6 bolt at only 18psi while other people running stock motors were pulling almost 400whp which was really odd to me. In the end i went for the t04b 50trim and haven't looked back ever since. According to dave the vtrim is not a very forgiving turbo because of the map.....

Sorry, I shoulda been more specific on the turbo, but I don't have the V-trim here the link for it http://www.bullseye-power.com/product_info.php?cPath=37&products_id=134
They said the h3 was not working because it was made to produce 500hp and if its not making that power that may cause compressor surge. I told them I had all supporting mods and had it tuned my AMS, then the bullseye tech said it may because I don't have cams WTF So I returned the turbo and they gave me this 60 trim saying that should do the trick, and it does the same thing. :toobad:

From what i have read the vtrim and h3 are pretty much hit or miss turbos. Some people report surge problems while others don't have this. Like the guy who quoted me i was unfortunate to get this surge/boost problem. Ive had bullseye's To4b 50trim for a few months now its been the best turbo ive had so far. I can't comment on their 60trim though as i haven't read any complaints about them except for you

Im going to get a junk yard turbo with the hardware just to be sure it is the turbo causing these problems. Don't want to buy an expensive turbo again and have the same problems I just want to break my new engine in but the surge is so bad its not even driveable. From the looks of it, I just have an expensive paperweight :(
