Fill in your vehicle profile completely before asking a question.

I understand that it's not always easy to list exactly what problem the car is having when you first post about it. Alot of times we post about a problem when we just got back from driving the car, it was acting up the whole time and we're most aggrivated about it and not thinking clearly. However, one of the biggest problems professional technicians/mechanics and other skilled individuals have when attempting to repair a problem on a car is getting enough information to reproduce/relate the concern to another previously repaired car.

I know not everyone will bother to read this but for those that do I'm sure you'll find the responses to your problem posts will be much more direct and to the point. Below is a list of areas of concern and some questions that you should try and list the answers to when posting.

Area-

Driveability Symptoms:
Hesitations, poor performance, vibration, shudder, low gas mileage, idle problem, exhaust note discrepancies, air/fuel ratio out of spec, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

Needed Information:
---Outside temperature (within 10 degrees or so), vehicle temperature(Cold start, half-way to normal operating temperature, normal operating temperature, Above normal, overheating), At idle?, Under light-medium-heavy acceleration, Deceleration- slight-moderate-foot off accelerator or downshifting agressively, At what speed, what gear, how much boost, and how consistant does it occur? Every drive cycle, very intermittant, every time during the same driver demands of the drive cycle?

Driveline and suspension symptoms:
Vibration, shakes while braking, shakes while accelerating, shakes while cruising, vibration/shimmy at "X" mph, grinding noise, moaning noise from area "X" of the car, Steering wheel off center, pulls, leads, vibrates, clicking noise while turning, slowing, speeding up

Needed Information
---Outside Temperature, vehicle temperature, was it during acceleration, decel, cruise, throttle input (light, medium, heavy), braking input (light, medium, heavy) Is it ENGINE RPM related or vehicle speed related, Does it happen only when turning, if so which direction at what speed, throttle position, gear, and brake input?, Can you rotate tires and make the problem move to the other side?

MOST IMPORTANT INFORMATION NEEDED:

Is there a check engine light on consistantly, or has it come on previously while this problem has been happening. What is the P-Code and what is the Key-Dance Code? What repairs have been done before this problem occurred, what has been done to repair the condition, and what is the repair history of the car? Has the vehicle been wrecked? What maintenance has been done to the car? How many miles on the car and it's year model?

In conclusion:
This is not a bash on anyone who has not put this information in their posts. It's meant to help everyone gather as much information as possible to help us all try and figure out your problem and help shorten the down time of the car. Furthermore the symptoms can then be compared to our cars should they give the same problem.
