I just got my car back on the road. Right now I have 215/50-16's on the stock from rims and the crappy 205-55's on the rear. I am going to look for either 215/50 or 225/50 for the rear. My question is does running a smaller diam tire change the gear ratio?? I know this may sound idoitic but this morning on my way to work I noticed that at 64-65 mph I am already at 3000-3100rpm. Is this normal for a 1G GSX? I was thinking I should be at 70mph at that rpm? Thanks

By my reading of your post, you are running tires of different diameters on the front and rear of an AWD car.

What did your center differential - assuming that it still exists - ever do to you to deserve such treatment?

Sorry. That wasn't very clear. On an AWD car, all of the tires must be the same diameter. They should probably be the same size in all ways, but, no matter what, they must all be the same diameter.

Unless all roads in your area are unpaved, of course.

I thought of that too...shit! 50 series tires will be put on tonight or tomorrow. Either way, once I get it home tonight I will not drive it until tires of the same diam are on all four corners. Thanks
