First:

I'm looking for decent pics of a 245-45-17 tire mounted on a 17" x 7.5" rim. Basically looking for bulge

Second:

If anyone has 245-45-17 on their car, please list rim size and offset. Also, suspension spring/shock and list any rubbing.

My current setup is 17x7 Konig's (unsure of spacing) with 225-45-17 Kumho Ecsta 712s. They fit fine, but the rears rub. I can't figure out where however.

Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, AGX Shocks, with Ground Control upper shims.

That's the jist of things.

Just trying to get a wider tire for the power I'm putting down without having to flare my fenders (yet). 265 Drag Radials are in the works, but not until the AWD transmission is in.

Thanks.

There are reasons for everything in my post.

If you want to know basics (without giving away too many secrets)...

It all boils down to making a FWD a very trackable street car.

Gearing sucks in a FWD, AWD trannies are much shorter.

TRE Longer 1st/2nd gears will be used to make up for that problem, and make launching a bit easier.

Those gears are still a tad bit shorter than FWD's, so that will put a 265-45-17 Drag Radial in primo spot. I will end up being fairly close to FWD ratios because of tire size, and I will have enough traction to hopefully be able to go WOT in 3rd gear, and about 75% in 2nd.

You can't find decent drag radials in a 17" size. The tires I plan on running are 17" Falken Azenis Sport (the sticky ones). Bulge will be used to hopefully soften up the sidewall. These aren't drag racing tires, so I'm not really concerned about launching in 1st gear, but rather from 2nd-5th (190-ish MPH).

Jezus.. yoru NOT gonna fit a 265 tire under there. 235 is MAX unless you come out past the wheel well about 2". Then you'll just look like a mexican lowrider

depends on the offset of the wheel also. to run a tire that wide with the proper rim to avoid rubbing, will probably kill your wheel bearings

Well since you guys are in such amazement about fitting such mild tires on a 2g DSM.

Anyways, here's a pic of a car with 255-40-17.

I'll be throwing 265-40/45-17 on my car shortly.

GOT TRACTION?!??!?!?! ;)

These are with +25 offset, and 17x8 Mustang Cobra wheels. Quite a bit of room for improvement as much as "sticking out of the fenderwell".

why put an AWD tranny in your GST? you're gonna have maad wheelspin off the line with that, and 7.5 seems a little skinny for a 245.

Are you serious, a gst is front wheel drive, and that is actually only 1 wheel working, an awd is all 4 wheels and that equals no wheelspin. Go back to kindergarden with you stupid posts.

ROFL man.

No, an AWD tranny is just being put in for better gear ratios. One simple mod and it works. The gearing is lower and it equals better track times. I never said I wanted to, or was planning on turning my FWD into an AWD. I don't know how about your FWD, but both my front tires spin ;).

If you ever drove a high hp, high rev limit FWD, you can run 3rd gear out to 130mph. What's that mean? Shitty track times.

AWD trannies have way more mods available for them as well.

The current plan of attack for limiting wheelspin due to the lower first and second gears, is the TRE Race-Spec First and Second gear, and the stock ratio'd 3-4. A higher speed 5th gear will be added as well. That will negate any traction loss, and I should be able to run most of 4th gear out on the track.

Since this topic was never answered, I figured I would revive it for somebody who may be interested. I went with the 245/45/17s for two reasons. First, I wanted a taller tire to lengthen my gears since I'm an auto. Second, I wanted the widest tire that would be flush with the car for looks sake. If you drive a manual, I would recommend staying the closest to stock tire diameter as possible, as there's nothing to gain from going with a larger tire.

Will these wheels and tires fit?

The above link is an excellent guide to tire fitment.

The 245/45/17s are 3.2% taller than stock (25.67 inches). One major thing to worry about is knuckle/fender clearance. My rears needed to be rolled in order to make sure the tires did not rub.

The final result was: On a 2Ga, rolled rear fenders, +35 offset wheels, and Sumitomo 245/45/17s, the fronts only rub during quick and extremely sharp turns. I hope this was helpful. Quick note: My speedo is now dead on. Funny right?

I know. There's no other information that I've found searching the forums, so instead of creating a new topic I figured I would keep all of the info in one place.

I'm running 245/50/17 on a 7" wheel with no issues.

That is close to the most ridiculous set-up I've ever heard of.

245 is way too wide for a 7" wheel.

245/50/17 is way too tall for a DSM.
