Hello,

I just started installing Ground Control coilovers on my Koni Yellow dampers. The GC kit comes with a plastic bag full of black rubber o-rings, but they aren't mentioned in the instructions and I'm not sure what they're used for. Can anyone tell me?

Thanks

They're supposed to go between the threaded sleeve that comes with the GC kit and the shock body. And I'm not actually sure if they're to be used with all kits... When you slide the sleeve over the shock you'll see that it fits loose. That's where the o-rings come into play. I personally just used a few wraps of electrical tape instead of the o-rings last time I had the sleeves off. My old o-rings were torn apart.

Whoa, Chris, you're begging for some neg rep, there, dude. The poster has Konis and a 2G, which means the weight of the entire car goes through those little rings, so these aren't something to replace with electrical tape. He needs to locate which ring fits the Konis snugly and use them.

ps. I assume that we are talking about the black PLASTIC rings; at least, the rings that came with my sleeves four years ago were black plastic, not rubber

Yeah, I don't think they go around the shock.

I have 16 1.5" rubber rings, 8 thick ones, and 8 thin ones. The Konis are about 2" diameter, so I'd have to really stretch them to get them around the shock. What are these for? The coilovers appear like they would work fine without these rings.

Yes, my setup looks exactly like the one in the vFAQ, except the vFAQ doesn't show the o-rings. I'm not referring to the upper shock bushings. These are actual black rubber rings perhaps 1/8" and 1/4" thick.
