Ok so one of my shockes is busted to hell, and so i think that with 70000 miles the car could use a whole new set. Now granted i would like to get a TIEN set up but thats a whole lot of money right now, plus thats not the only problem the mechanics found. So would KYB GR-2 shocks work fine as replacements of the stockers... or should i sring for the AGX? is it worth it? I dont plan on lowering the car right now and the prices for the gr-2s seem mihty fine. What do you all think?

i think i might now that i found the set for 350 on coximport, plus the i guess ill be able to addapt to new springs when that happens

I would say go with the agx's. I have them on my car and love them. I know some people who have them with the stock springs and they noticed an improvement.

i'd go bilstien, tien, koni, or tokico..... yes in that order. kyb, i've heard nothing but bad things about them... and like someone said above " you get what you pay for "..... so if your straped for cash and want something cheap and better than stock then try tokico blues ... at www.optionsauto.com they were selling for (i think) $68.00 each which is very cheap.

well which ever way you decide to go good luck.

I have KYB, AGX's on my GS-T and they are great!
I have had them for over a year and I run Eibach
springs, great combo! The adjustments on them are
very nice and do make a difference in the ride.
Hope this helps!:dsm: :thumb:

hmm there are clearly two schools of thought i herd tien was the end all of road race suspension for our cars? man that electronicly controled damper does sond sweet, just like gran turismo... LOL

yeah im goin to order agx all around... when the time comes for spings what woudl you recomend

Well, that is my dilema right now, I bought an Eibach Pro-Kit 1 year ago, but I was not to happy with the way the car sits.... I may have been an installation error on my friends part, but I'm not sure. The way the fender wells are designed on the Eclipse, the front has a bigger opening for turning so my back wheels look "tucked" while my front still have wheel gap. So after 1 year now and my car is put away for the winter I am looking at buying Ground Control coilovers, what I should have done in the begining and this way I can adjust it to what I like. I was also looking at H&R's they look like they have a cure for the bigger front opening buy lowering the front @ 1.7" and the rear @ 1.3" this would probably look pretty good. See the Pro-Kit was 1.3" all around... It is up to you, but many people have told me to use my KYB's and then swap out the springs for the coilovers.... This is what I am goping to do.
Don't get me wrong, I love Eibach, especially since they are the springs used in the Ground Control's, but I did not like the look of my car with just there Pro-Kit.
Hope this helps..... P.S. you will want to buy Eibach's alignment kit for the back so you can reach speeds over 100mph, if need be and you won't get the steering shake.:D

hmm i have been to 110 and not noticed much.... but i was thinkin about some kind of adjustable coil over somethin nice, I know the a coil over spring and a adjustable shock will never match the glory of a real race coilover, like tien... but i think i mihgt have a diecent set up?

Does anybody know if KYB fixed there AGX strut caseing problem on the 2g'? I heard that the front KYB AGX caseing was a little longer than that of the factory strut caseing, therefore causing it to hit the bump stops. Anybody know?

thats true. i believe the fronts were designed for the galant. dont know if they fixed it yet though

but if you made the shacks a little harder it would fix it?the kyb part numbers are differnt so i owuld think it make sense... if they were gonna ship the same part why wast money relabaling it...

the front 2G AGX's were supposedly designed for the JDM Galant, and were 1" longer than stock. i believe they fixed that, though. as long as you're car isn't lowered that much, you should be fine. i'm using them, but my car isn't lowered at all. they also don't recommend them for use on cars lowered more than 1.5" or so.....

Thanks for all the info guys. I just wasn't to sure if they had fixed the problem as of yet. I will be sure that when I do order mine I will bring this issue up with whom ever I'm dealing with, to make sure that I'm getting it right. Thanks!!

Hey, I've been in doing alot of thinking about and asking but never really came to a conclusion. I hope you guys can help me out with your experiences. Im looking for a smooth ride, i don;t want every little bump and dip throwing me around inside my car. Im now looking at some ground control coil overs with KYB agx shocks all around. what do you guys think about that setup??? thank you, Joseph

GROUND CONTROL + KYB AGX = Bouncy or Smooth

:dsm: Hey that is what I am going to go with, I have heard different stories about each product. I have KYB's on my car now and have had no problem with them, they have a nice ride. I want to go with Ground Control C.O. because I want the adjustablilty. I am with you, I will let you know how it turns out if you don't get it done before me. If you do let me know! Check back in a couple of weeks and I will let you know!

yeah i am interested in that too cause i have been hearing that there are problems if you lower the car any more than an inch. It woudl be great to have the adjustbility of the agx shocks as well as that of coilovers with out spendin freak amounts of mony on the racing stuff...

Does anyone have any good seetigns for the agx shocks 0-8 i think? or 1-8? what numbers front and back.

WOW i just got them by ups today they are swank, but it seems that the ones for a 2g are only 4 way adjustable on the frount and back, the shock dust covers i got seem a little short for the rears but they will still work... very nice i can t wait to install them... wish i had a spring compressor.... hmmm shoudl i buy one?
